ELDER Quality

As Sockmakers since 1945, ELDER uses only the highest quality materials and manufacturing processes. Through years of research and development, ELDER integrates the use of the materials listed below, each having characteristics that contribute desirable features.

Cotton

This natural fiber, when combined with nylon, Lycra or wool, provides durability, comfort and a soft hand. It is breathable, washable and biodegradable.

Elastic

Because of its extreme stretch and recovery properties, elastic is a natural product used in many of our socks to assure great fit.

Kevlar®

Used to make bullet-proof vests, Kevlar® is the industry standard of durable, protective fibers. Lightweight and five times as strong as steel, KevlarŪ is used in our FiberTech™ process to increase our products' durability.

Lycra®

With its unique four-way stretch, durability and recovery abilities, Lycra® allows socks to stay up and fit better, longer.

Nylon

When added to other fibers, nylon adds stretch and improves durability. This long-wearing fiber can be spun either thin and fine or bulky with greater elasticity.

Thermax®

Thermax® is a unique hollow core fiber that enhances the properties of wool. It prevents heat loss and provides wicking properties, while being light weight and soft.

Polypropylene

This water-repelling fiber adds durability to our yarns. While providing endurance properties, it also wicks moisture from the skin.

Spandex®

This synthetic version of elastic is used to provide our socks with a better fit.

Wool

Wool is known as nature's own insulation fiber and has not been improved by man. It is the best fiber to use for warmth and durability. It is colorfast, breathable, and has natural wicking properties. Wool is often blended with other fibers to improve their insulation and wicking properties.

Packaging

ELDER Hosiery Mills offers a variety of packaging for its different line of products: all designed for maximum visual impact, convenience, and in-store sales appeal. While each type of sock presents a distinctive look, all products are coordinated to provide a unified product line image. All sock packaging shows the sock's fiber content. The UPC (Universal Product Code) is clearly displayed for ease in scanning. Requirements for custom bands, sobars, pre-pricing and other specialized packaging needs can be met at an additional cost.
